The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) is required for all recreational drone flyers to demonstrate their knowledge of safety and regulations. If requested by law enforcement or FAA personnel, proof of passing the test must be provided. TRUST offers education and testing on safety information, and you must pass it before flying your drone recreationally. 

Developed with input from drone stakeholders, TRUST is available online through approved Test Administrators since June 2021. If your drone weighs more than . 55 pounds, it must be registered with the FAA or flown in only FRIA approved locations.

To fly recreationally, follow these steps: understand flying requirements, visit the Recreational Flyers page, download the B4UFLY app, and take the free online trust test. After passing, download or print your completion certificate, as administrators won’t keep a record of it.
